Even so, the actual mark was often left behind on your body. Thanks to new medical technology, doctors may soon be able to prevent injury-related or post-surgical scarring entirely.
The Benefits of Growing New Skin
The process of getting rid of scars that could soon be made available to the public involves growing new skin. The new skin can be applied to patients’ bodies so that they retain their normal appearance and even grow hair, which is not possible when you suffer a scar after surgery or an injury.
The new human skin is grown from fat cells in a laboratory. It can then be transplanted onto the patient seeking medical treatment.
This new technology is important in helping people recover from injuries and post-surgical procedures that range from minor to significant. People who suffer from severe injuries or go through major surgeries are often left with devastating scars that drastically alter their appearances.
These people often suffer from a lack of confidence or even depression or anxiety about the way they look.
They also could develop infections on their skin, making their scars worse. With new skin, people can enjoy better physical and mental health after being hurt or going through an operation. Still, what caused the fat cells to mature and contribute to people’s obesity and obesity-related diseases? Scientific studies have identified a particular hormone as the leading factor behind the maturation of fat cells.
People who have high levels of this hormone are often at the greatest risk of developing mature fat cells and in turn suffering from obesity. The key to preventing obesity and obesity-related diseases, then, could lie in curbing the production and release of this hormone.
That technology, like growing new skin, is still in the works. If scientists can develop a medication or therapy to curb this hormone, they may as well produce the cure for a problem that has plagued billions of people from all over the world.
Fat cells hold the key to many important biological processes in people’s bodies. They can now apparently be used to grow new skin. They also, unfortunately, can cause obesity if they mature due to a certain hormone in people’s bodies.
